Mieh Mieh Lebanon Lebanese Children Are Eager To Learn English Children Playing In The Village Children Being Children In The Local Schoolyard

Hello! I'm opening a small American English Center in Mieh Mieh, Saida, Lebanon, where I can tutor English & teach group English classes. We live in a small village just outside of Saida, next to the Mediterranean, approximately 5 km East of Saida & 45 km south of the capital Beirut. It is my hope that my center will provide me with the opportunity to fulfill a need & help my community to learn a new language that will enrich their lives with the knowledge. The center will be a student centered learning facility, focusing on each individual student's needs. We will be an English tutoring & American English learning facility, teaching EFL (English as a foreign language), providing tutoring in English if the student has the subject & teaching American English classes to students of other language curriculums.

Most children in Lebanon do not speak English & are being taught a French curriculum in school. This is an excellent curriculum, however it does not have an adequate English language component & leaves most students with an English language deficit.
Most of the graduates will leave the country due to the lack of jobs & seek employment in other countries. According to recent statistics, about 34% of Lebanese are looking to leave the country currently, & about 25% of the population is already outside the country, this means that over 50% of the population is either looking to leave the country or is already living abroad. English is widely spoken in the business world & it is necessary to speak, read & write it frequently & proficiently. Without education in this area the students are not fully prepared.

How Will Contributions Be Used?
100% of funds donated will be used to start up the language center. To make this work, my students and I need your support. The space where I plan to teach has only bare walls at this time. We need more than just the empty space.
Before I can get this program off the ground I will need to purchase the following materials:
Student Chairs; White Board; Printer (including lots of paper & ink); Office Supplies; Copies of Handouts For Students; Workbooks; File Cabinet; Business Cards; Banner & Signs. I'm sure there will be much more needed. Deposits will also need to be made for rent & electricity.
We have tables, some odd furniture & boxes of teaching materials. I will also be doing all construction, painting & preparing of the facility myself to conserve funds.

We are looking to raise $2000.00 to start up. Any donations over our goal amount will allow us to expand the program. I am already looking at adding computers for online learning in the future & an interactive white board.

Mission:
AEC's mission is to provide high quality American English language tutoring & instruction to meet the academic, professional or personal needs of anyone who wants to improve their English skills.
